Child Labor Project

Currently, the regional project on Child Labor will be implemented by the International Labor Organization (ILO) under their International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC). This project, the West African Cocoa Agricultural Project (WACAP), will be managed by the ILO/IPEC project management team located in their regional West African office.

The WACAP project will be implemented through over 30 action programs that will:
  1. Mobilize the participation and strengthen the capacity of various social partners,
  2. Carry out intensive awareness-raising campaigns,
  3. Demonstrate a comprehensive package of social protection measures, including counselling, education and training,
  4. Establish a credible and cost-effective child labour monitoring system, and
  5. Enhance the knowledge base on the issue and disseminate information, including experiences and lessons learned.

Other areas of need under STCP that are not addressed as part of the WACAP project will be identified, and support will be sought through other partners working at the national level through the Pilot Projects.
